Global Market Plunge

Tuesday, February 27th, 2007

Glad I wasn’t playing the stock market today, it took a huge hit. Luckily I cleared out of most of my positions a week or so ago and sitting on mostly cash, except for a few PUT option contracts. But that is O.K because they are PUTs expiry in August 2007, I am hedging that the market will go downwards from here on in until July. Have to see what happens the rest of this week in the stock market.

I just finish reading the book “The Electronic Day Trader” for the second time. I bought this book back in year 2001 when the whole day trading thing during the dot com boom was hot and read over it once back then but it didn’t really stick. What I mean by that was what I read kinda just went through my eyes and out my head, I’m sure everybody has read a book before but forgot much of it shortly after. I guess at the time I did not treat it seriously, I didn’t take notes.

How Being Unemployed Plays With Your Mind

by Das Brain

Exactly one month and two days ago I was laid off, and although it was inevitable, and probably a blessing in disguise as many of my friends and family have told me, it still feels weird. Even though unemployment insurance and my savings will more than adequately keep me afloat for over 10 months or so, I still have this feeling as if I am non-productive and there is a big hit to my self esteem.

What is Wealth?

Everyone has a different perception of wealth, however I think that most people would agree that wealth in terms of money allows us to buy stuff, but beyond that there is more. For example, it allows you to have more confidence and security. It gives you more freedom for your life and the choice to live your life the way you would like to. Don’t get me wrong, wealth is not just about money, other aspect of wealth include things like physical health, mental health, family, friends, philosophy of life and spirituality. Money is just an factor of wealth that allows you to have more choices and the ability to make the best choices for yourself and your family.

Sunday, February 18th, 2007

by Das Brain

On Thursday, I was cooking and my wife called and told me that she was invited to go to a restaurant and experience the restaurant on the owner’s tab. The owner was one of the parents of the kids that my wife looked after at the day care. So, even though I was in the middle of cooking I stopped what I was doing and we went to check out the restaurant.

Teaching Kids, Teenagers, Students About Money

If you are a person who does not manage your money very well, have you ever thought why that is so?

I have, when I was in my mid-twenties, and I can attribute some of it to my personality, friends and lack of financial education. In school, whether it was public school, junior high and even high school there was pretty no course which taught “personal finance 101.”
