AMD Llano APU vs Intel Sandy Bridge Laptop – Better Performance Than Intel, Cost Less

This is great video of the benchmark test of a comparison between the new AMD Llano APU processor and Intel’s Sandybrige processor. The AMD Llano APU laptop seems to be able to multi-task much better even with heavy hi-def 1080p video running.

This new APU processor from AMD will greatly enhanced gaming experience on laptops, and many gamers are already picking them up just for that. I went to my local FutureShop store and played around with an HP Pavilion 15.6″ AMD A8 3530MX Laptop (DV6-6124CA) and I noticed a big improvement in speed when Windows 7 booted up… it was fast. This HP model is priced at $799 CAD, but will certainly come down in price within 3 – 6 months.

Also, opening up multiple apps like browsers, MS office and other normally used apps was fast and crisp. I think AMD has a winner here with great Quad Core performance for gaming, video and multi-tasking on a laptop that cost at least 10% cheaper than an Intel SandyBridge laptop.

Only time will tell, how sales of these laptops will be like.

  1. [...] If the laptop has an Intel i7 2630qm with an Intel HD graphics card built-in then the HP Pavilion DV6-6124CA with the AMD A8-3530mx will destroy the Intel i7 laptop in the video related areas like 1080p HD Video playback, video editing and photo editing and the reason will be because of the APU. Integration of processor with graphics chip is fast and will generally outperform the Intel HD graphics. There are plenty of videos on YouTube where they test this scenario and the AMD A8 comes out on top in both video and multi-tasking. [...]
